Our Story

So who are Rosemary & Grace and how did this become their namesake? Inspired by his familial upbringing in Paradise, CA, our founder and head cook, Nathan Johnson chose Rosemary and Grace, the names of his grandmothers, to represent the care, quality, and warmth that guide everything we do. But Rosemary & Grace aren’t just one person’s grandmothers–they’re a representation of tradition, of nostalgia, and of the quality of times and meals passed. It’s the embodiment of the care we have for what we do and the values that shape how we work–from the ingredients we choose to the team who prepares them.

The team behind Rosemary & Grace is built with the same intention as our menu—curated with care, collaboration, and respect for craft. Together, we’re proud to create food that’s served throughout our community that connects people to each other and to the simple joy of gathering around a good meal. Our meals start with what’s fresh, local, and in season. We partner closely with nearby farms and purveyors who share our values, ensuring every dish is made with ingredients that are as thoughtful as they are flavorful. We’re so excited to share what we’re cooking up with you!

Working with the seasons
  • Spring

Spring always feels like a fresh start—and we feel that in our kitchen too. The first leafy greens, sweet peas, asparagus, herbs, and early-season fruits start showing up, and we’re always excited to work with the season’s freshest picks. Everything tastes bright and alive again, and the cozy winter season, there’s something special about working with ingredients that are just coming into bloom.

  • Summer

Summer is when the fields and markets are bursting with the best of the best—tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes, sweet corn, berries, stone fruit, and herbs that all have that summertime sun-kissed flavor. It’s the season for easy, colorful meals and simple flavors that don’t need much fuss. We love turning all that local, farm-fresh goodness into dishes that taste like sunshine and backyard gatherings at grandma’s house.

  • Winter

Winter may be quieter in our local farms’ crops, but there’s still so many delicious ingredients we get excited to use during the cozy season. We turn to citrus, hearty leafy greens, potatoes, pomegranates, and all the crops that thrive in the cold. These ingredients make their way into soups, stews, and baked treats that comfort—fresh, seasonal, nourishing food made with care from the farms that keep us fed all year long.

Our Partners

You can’t make great food without great ingredients and that is why we source our produce locally. We source from three farms in Chico. Most of the produce you see on the menu is determined by the seasonality of what these farms are producing at the time. We prioritize using local before branching out to other farms outside of Butte County.

Chico, Califronia

Burns Blossom Farm is a certified Organic, family-farm tending the soil and nourishing our communities of Chico, the Northern Sacramento Valley & beyond.

Chico, Califronia

We focus and work with nature supporting the health of our soil, recycling natural materials, and growing cover crops to grow and maintain soil fertility. The organic cultivation principles we use successfully sustain and enrich our produce, farmlands, and community.

Chico, Califronia

By providing high-quality vegetables that can’t be found in a conventional supermarket, we’re keeping ecological farming alive. In a region dominated by heavily industrialized monoculture, we’re choosing a sustainable future for all.
